Press Quotes

"Coming out of Alberta, Meisha & at Spanks is an Indigenous female-front garage-punk duo that fall somewhere between The White Stripes and Royal Blood with a touch of mid-90s alt-rock. Seriously, what’s not to like? I already have this one on my summer playlist. Their year? It might be."

“... a joyous taste of their vibrant garage-rock album… for sure it is the year of Miesha & The Spanks!”

“...a heavy dose of vibrant garage rock.”

“... packed with bold vocals over fierce guitar riffs and booming percussion coming together in a rich blend that manages to toe the line between sensual and sassy.”

“With a very intense and modern sound, good guitar lines and with a contagious style, this Alternative Rock is there to show that quality Rock is still made these days.” (Google Translated from Spanish).

“Leading with a signature rock n’ roll count, distortion, and Louie’s lively vocals, the single basks in its pop embellishments while staying true to their grooves.”

"It's My Year is the new single and video from that record, and it's a winner. Louie cranks out fuzzed guitar riffs, and her full-blooded vocals soar atop Hamilton's kick-in-the-head drum beats, and her bold declaration of intent rings true."

"What begins as a bummer song turns into an anthem of optimism and determination. This is a theme as old as time itself. But with Miesha & the Spanks selling it, I'm totally buying all of it. Time to break out the bucket list and start checking off boxes!"

A moody intro and fuzzy, buzz saw guitars draw you in before the chorus explodes with a mix of White Stripes, Black Keys and Lovely Eggs energy all at once. There's a brassy, trashy vibe to this one that speaks of confidence but also of not caring what other people think and I'm here for that kind of energy all day long.
